| vertical position during period startup - no way! |
[Dec. 8th, 2009|02:27 am] |
hi everyone,
I'd like to know if this is normal...
My period started this morning - two weeks late. Even though I took prescribed meds as soon as I felt the pain (horrid cramps woke me up, ugh) I spent the morning in bed, because every time I tried to sit up, I puked. When I went food shopping in the afternoon, I almost passed out in the middle of the shop. Momentarily I'm only a bit dizzy (I forced myself to eat some chocolate later on to get my blood sugar back up), but my stomach feels like someone's kicking it from the inside.
Does anyone else know this? Could it have anything to do with my menstrual cup (wearing MCUK small, don't feel it at all, inserted since yesterday, I've been using it since March). Thanks a lot! |

| pap test results? |
[Dec. 7th, 2009|06:35 pm] |
about three months ago i visited my doctor to get a prescription for birth control. while there, we decided i might as well get my first pap test. fast forward to today and i find a message on my answering machine from the doctor's office telling me to make an appointment. just wondering if this is related to the pap test results? i googled it and only found answers saying it would take three months at the most, but it has been well over that long. just looking for some comfort here as i'm really scared right now :( |

| Slime Time Vagine |
[Dec. 7th, 2009|05:27 pm] |
| [ | Current Mood |
| | amused | ] | I have a new vagina inquiry (vaginquiry?) every day!
Recently, my boyfriend and I have stopped using condoms. I am on Ocella (HBC pill), and I take it fairly religiously I have been on it for three months now. He ejaculates inside me, and we are both okay with that. ( He tested negative for STIs)
(I know, I know. Not ridiculously smart)
But, my question is about what happens AFTER he comes in me. At first (when I pee right after sex) it comes out in big milky/clear globs.. (you know, like semen..)
After a few hours, or the next morning, it comes out looking like green mucus! Still the same clear milky consistency and everything as the night before, but it comes out with a greenish yellowish tinge..
The first thing I thought was that I had an STI, but I got tested, and the results came back negative. Is this an indicator that I am pregnant or something? What is wrong with mee? |

| no idea what is going on |
[Dec. 7th, 2009|02:03 pm] |
mkay, so back in July I felt vaginal itching for the first time in my life, specifically vulval/clitoral itching. this was promptly followed by burning during urination and chunky discharge (basically clear with tiny white clumps, didn't really resemble cottage cheese to me). i had lost my virginity to my boyfriend about 2 months earlier, and we have always used condoms and ky lube. i went to the doctor for this, we discussed my symptoms, and I was prescribed diflucan (she didn’t do a test). this got rid of all my symptoms (although if I remember correctly it did continue to smell a little off) and I went a month without any real problems. In September, I begun to get itchy on and off again, experiencing a milder version of the same symptoms. thinking that I had a yeast infection, I purchased the egg-shaped monistat insert, which seemed to help somewhat, but I still had the strong sour smell. In November, the itching started up again, and this time I went to the doctor about it. She gave me a pap smear and told me that I had bacterial vaginosis. She said that yeast infections can easily turn into bacterial vaginosis (is this true?) and prescribed me the bacterial vaginosis cream, which did not seem to work.I started to actually get the cottage cheese-like discharge the day I started using the cream. last week, I started to feel the same itchiness once again. i had my mom call the doctor, who told me to purchase monistat and gave me the prescription for the fluconazole pill. I used them both at the same time. today is the day after I finished using all these treatments and my vagina is still itching like crazy. i'm so frustrated. my boyfriend hasn't been able to go down on me for months. i'm thinking maybe i have some sort of allergy to latex? my next step is probably to get in contact with an actual gynecologist rather than a general doctor and see what's going on. |

| Notification System |
[Dec. 7th, 2009|01:15 pm] |
Hey Guys,
Unfortunately with our last release, and its instability, we were forced to roll back releases. Unfortunately in doing so, it would seem that our notification system has been broken somehow. Our engineers are working on this issue as quickly as possible. We hope to have a patch within the next day, so we can deploy our code and fix the notification system at the same time. Please *bear* with us ;)
Currently all notifications are being queued up so they can be processed as soon as the fix is pushed and verified to be working correctly.
Thank you, |

| IUD insertion & questions |
[Dec. 7th, 2009|12:33 pm] |
I got my Mirena IUD inserted on Thursday (about 5 days ago) and while I’m happy it’s been taken care of, it was not a pleasant experience, leading me to be paranoid about perforation and all other side effects.
( my insertion experience ) I did research prior to deciding to get the IUD and haven’t read any accounts that are similar to my insertion experience. Even my sister told me the 800 mg of Ibuprofen would be enough, which was obviously not the case. Since Thursday I’ve had some light spotting and cramps that come and go. Now I’m a bit concerned about the possibility of perforation. While I trust that everything was done correctly, how can I be sure this didn’t happen (especially since I was in so much pain)? How long should I wait till I go back to get it checked up on? Also, what does it mean if your uterus is lifted? Is this something I should be concerned about? |

| HBC Weight Gain Way Late? |
[Dec. 7th, 2009|03:06 pm] |
|
I started the nuvaring in February of last year. From February to June, I only gained about 5 pounds, which was fine with me. But from July until now, I’ve gained TWENTY. I’ve started exercising more and eating healthier and still, I keep gaining. I haven’t really changed anything in my lifestyle or diet for the worse since then so I was wondering if this new massive weight gain could possibly be related to the nuvaring. I’ve gotten checkups since then and am healthy everywhere else so I really don’t know what else this could be. CAN hbc make you gain weight four months after you’ve already started taking it? Or do I need to keep racking my brain as to what else this could possibly be? If it IS the nuvaring, should I go off it? Is there any other hbc that doesn’t cause such a huge weight gain? At 5’2, I really can’t handle being this size and feeling so powerless against it and I really can’t afford any more weight on my frame. Has anyone else ever gained so much so long after taking hbc? And would anyone have any tips on weight loss while on stubborn birth control? I’d appreciate anything, thanks! |

| yaz....a question about when to start and some others |
[Dec. 7th, 2009|01:51 pm] |
| [ | Current Mood |
| | curious | ] | my dr. prescribed yaz for me today. I'm using it mainly to help regulate my hormones (pms, acne and skip periods around my wedding/honeymoon in may) it's been a good 4 years since i have been on the pill and i'm confused as to when to start. it gives me two options..the sunday start or day 1 start. none of which will work for me unless i wait about a week until my period comes. is it ok to start taking it now and just use a back up for a week. (like the sunday start but no period involved). I expect a wacky period for the first couple months if i do this..so that's not a problem.
or should i just follow the instructions and wait for the first sign of my period and start the pack?
Also, from what i remember from the other brand of hbc i used (Kariva)..they recommended no more then 3 months of stacking...is that still the same for yaz? AND lastly....will topical antibiotics (ziana gel:clindamycin phosphate 1.2% and tretinoin 0.025%) interfere with yaz's effectiveness? i know oral antibiotics can..but i have never heard about topical
thanks vp! :) |

Hello again -
I have a few questions. I stopped taking my birth control pills after my period in October because I was expecting to get an IUD. In November, my body felt a little wonky but I ended up getting a full blown period that lasted a quite a few days - even longer than I expected. This month, however, my period is mysteriously MIA. I have been sexually active but using a condom successfully for each time (which has been about 3-4 times). Last week I was experiencing cramps like I was going to get my period, so I was expecting it to come. However, it stil hasn't. I was about due yesterday or saturday. Yesterday, I took a home pregnancy test with a negative result, which was relieving, but it still doesn't answer the question of where is my period?
i do have some stuff coming out of me - its very very very light and kind of a light light brown color. i hsve a pad on and thats the only way i can tell. its not even enough to warrant a pad.
I have been stressed lately (finals, graduate school applications, impending graduation ugh school), but I have not missed a period before IN MY LIFE. Could this just be a result of coming off of the pill? |

| IUD |

| | curious | ] | Greeting fellow BP-ers!
Okay, I am sure there is a post somewhere here containing the info that I need, but I am in a hurry at the moment, so I hope no one minds if I just make a new post.
Anyway, I recently went off HBC because it was messing (annihilating) my sex drive. I am going to go back on it for the time being though because my husband and I really enjoy having condom-less sex. I was wondering about how my the IUD's(non hormonal) run and if one could get one at, say, a planned parent hood. Also any information/advice would be greatly appreciated. I am a menstrual cup user and I have never given birth. Also, what are some of your personal experiences with them?
Thank you in advance!

| It only burns when we have sex! |
[Dec. 6th, 2009|10:48 pm] |
So for quite some time now I have been having an issue with a burning feeling during sex. Usually right on penetration and all the way through sex. After we are done, the burning stops immediately until I urinate. Then its intense burning.
I had told my doctor about the after burning (because at the time that was the only problem) and she suggested using more lube. We took that route and lots of lube does not make a difference. I am currently on the Depo Provera shot (the first one and I don't plan to get anymore shots of it) I used to be on the pill (Lutera)
I have no signs of a Yeast Infection. Or anything else that should raise a red flag for me.
This burning that I am experiencing is really causing a strain on my marriage because we are unable to have sex. It's horrible because we are newlyweds too.
Any suggestions would be beyond amazing for me. |

| HBC Causing Anxiety Attacks? |
[Dec. 7th, 2009|01:21 am] |
| [ | Current Mood |
| | anxious | ] | Hey VP saviors!
This is my first time posting and I'm in need of some advise. I'm 20 yrs old, been on the NuvaRing for 4 months, was on a HBC pill when I was 18 (I can't remember which one!) but only took it for 3 months. Throughout middle school and high school I would have 'mild' anxiety issues that were manageable by breathing or meditating but when I first started bc I began to have bad unmanageable anxiety attacks. I would wake up in the morning in a cold sweat and my heart was racing. I would be insanely overly sensitive, over think things and burst into tears when I was alone and it scared the hell out of me. I went back to my doctor and she put me on the lowest dose possible to hopefully curb these side effects. No such luck so I subsequently stopped taking the pill.
( About 6 months ago... )
Typing this all out makes me feel a lot better so I apologize for spewing my life story to you all. You all are just so amazing and I come here every day and learn something I've never known about my body before. I appreciate you all more than you'll ever know. |

| Uterine spasms? |
[Dec. 7th, 2009|01:07 am] |
|
For the past 2 months I'd say, I've been having muscles spasms in my uterus or that is where it feels. My first thought was a baby kicking because its almost exactly how it felt at week 20 when I felt my daughter kicking..the fluttering feeling. I seriously doubt I'm pregnant. I've been on birth control since last February and I take it perfectly. I've never missed a period either. I'm wondering if this is a cause for concern? |

| Nuvaring, breakthrough bleeding, and St. John's Wort (and Paragard just for fun) |
[Dec. 6th, 2009|11:35 pm] |
In the next week or so, I'm planning to hit my local student health office for a birth control prescription. I'm getting married next month and while my divacup has made my life so much easier, the thought of trying to empty and reinsert it while wearing a pouffy dress has me terrified. Hell, terrified isn't even the word. So I'm planning to stack some hormones and just skip the whole damn thing.
I've been debating whether to go the oral route or give Nuvaring a try so I decided to do a little reading on the Nuvaring website. There was a note that use of St. John's Wort can increase your chance of breakthrough bleeding. I knew it could decrease your protection, but my brain never clicked that anything that decreased your protection could also cause spotting due to the dip in hormone levels. Now I'm wondering just how common that is. I don't take St. John's on a regular basis, but I do use it on occasion when I'm going through a rough patch.
I've had a Paragard IUD since March 2007 so my hormonal protection can be compromised all it wants. I'm looking at this strictly for stacking purposes. Any thoughts? Or experiences with stacking Nuvarings period? Anecdotally, it almost seems like people experience more breakthrough bleeding with stacking the ring as compared to other methods, but maybe that could be alleviated if I stacked them after three weeks instead of four? (Since I'll only be using it for two months, I can eat the cost of a week less use time per ring.) The only thing I have any experience with stacking is the patch, but it makes me itchy and seeing it on my skin isn't a sight I enjoy.
Any thoughts? I'll also openly admit that I'm hopelessly lazy about daily pill taking which is another reason I'm looking at the ring. (And why I currently have the IUD--cause even the weekly patch was starting to ask a bit much of me.) |

Hi everyone, just a quick question about discharge. Tonight I noticed what looked like little black strings in my normal vaginal discharge. Is that anything to be concerned about or just one of the many variations in discharge? Thanks! |
